Security Best Practices
Thane gives you a self-custody Solana wallet. Protecting that wallet is entirely in your hands.
1. Export and back up your private key
Immediately after signup, go to Settings → Export Key.
Store the key (or the seed phrase) offline—for example in a hardware wallet, an encrypted USB drive, or a password-manager vault.
Keep at least one secondary back-up in a separate, secure location.
2. Never share or re-enter the key
Thane staff will never ask for your private key or seed phrase.
Do not paste the key into any website, browser extension, or Google Doc.
If someone gains the key, they can redeem your portfolio tokens for USDC and the funds cannot be recovered.
3. Lock down your sign-in method
Enable two-factor authentication on the email, Google, Telegram, or X account you use to log in.
Use a strong, unique password; avoid SMS-only 2FA if possible.
4. Consider cold storage for larger balances
Portfolio tokens are standard SPL assets. You can transfer them to a hardware wallet once purchased.
When you want to redeem, just move the tokens back to your Thane wallet and burn them.
5. Watch for phishing
Bookmark the site rather than clicking links in unsolicited DMs or emails.
Verify any Telegram announcements via our pinned messages before acting.
Following these simple steps greatly reduces the chances of losing access to your funds. If you have questions, reach out in Telegram or at info@thane.zone.
